A4D’s HelloType1 digital education platform launches in Vietnamese. Xin chào!

A4D has launched its groundbreaking digital Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) awareness and education resource in Vietnamese.

The platform, HelloType1 (HT1), is now available in three languages and aims to educate, empower and engage the T1D community in South-East Asia with accessible and accurate information about the condition.

T1D is a condition that needs to be understood and managed well. If someone does not understand T1D, they may suffer life threatening consequences.

The HelloType1 website and associated facebook pages, aim to support young people

with T1D and their families though early diagnosis and management of this condition, as well as help the professional development of healthcare practitioners.

The content in Vietnamese was made possible with the support from VADE and Prof. Nguyen Thy Khue, President of The Ho Chi Minh City Diabetes and Endocrine Association and her team at the University Medical Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City.

Virtual launch event was held with over 90 doctors attending from esteemed hospitals in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh.

Dr. Bui Phuong Thao, Head of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes Department in Vietnam National Children’s Hospital also shared how HT1 as a resource is benefitting in realizing the complications of late diagnosis of T1D which can be life threatening if not treated in time.

A4D Programme Manager for Digital innovation, Kara Winney said: “We are so happy to launch HelloType1 in Vietnam. The engagement and support we have received from doctors and the hospitals has been incredible.

Education is an essential part of Type 1 Diabetes care, which helps empower all stakeholders in the T1D Community, and can directly improve quality of life and life expectancy too.”

In the SEA region there is limited accessibility to educational resources for key stakeholders across the T1D Community. Through providing online curated content, available to T1Ds, their family care givers and doctors,

HelloType1 is adding a whole new dimension of readily available educational content, which hitherto has been lacking.

Which is where HelloType1 steps in supporting the people with T1D, their families and healthcare professionals.

HelloType1 will shares local language content through Facebook pages and websites. All the content is created in collaboration with health care professionals and people with T1D, to ensure the information is both accurate and engaging, and carefully adapted for a local setting.
